Göcek is one of the most preferred places in our country, which is rich in holiday destinations, and its places to visit are a matter of curiosity.
Gocek always fascinates its visitors with places to visit. Göcek, which has a different place with its deep blue sea and unique natural beauties, is among the first choices of domestic and foreign tourists for holiday. Göcek, which is connected to the Fethiye district of Muğla province, is a very cute village. While it was a quiet and calm place until 1980, it has become a much more popular holiday destination in recent years. The places to visit in Göcek, which hosts many visitors every year, can be listed as follows;
Gocek Bazaar
Göcek Bazaar, which is in the first place of Göcek's central locations, is one of the places preferred by all people for shopping. The bazaar, known as the heart of the village, is located very close to the Göcek coast. In the bazaar, there are primarily a variety of souvenirs. It is also among the most important stops to try local and international cuisine.
Gocek Marina
Combining the Mediterranean and the Aegean, Göcek Marina is among the most sheltered marinas of our country. The facility established in the region, a large part of which is under protection, is much more sensitive to the environment. Exciting races are held in the marina, which is surrounded by natural beauties. The distance to the center is approximately 5 minutes and the number of cafes and restaurants along the promenade is much higher. The marina, which is the first choice of yacht owners, has facilities to meet all kinds of needs of both visitors and employees.
Gemiler Island
Gemiler Island, opposite Gemiler Bay and its beach, is a much shorter distance from the historical Kaya Village. The island's former name was St. Nicholas and it is believed that the island was used as a place of worship during the early Christian period. Also, St. Nicholas is thought to have lived on this island. There are church ruins from the early Christian and Byzantine periods. The frescoes of the large churches are in good condition and there are remains of cisterns by the sea. The most interesting ruin on the island is the tunnel connecting the two churches.
Letoon Ancient Theater
The most important temple of Lycra, Letoon is the sacred cultural center and is dedicated to its three national gods Leto and his twin children Apollo and Artemis. Leto is worshiped as a family god and guardian of the tomb. Letoon is located on a fertile plain a short distance south of Xanthos. Letoon is a romantic area, and many of the monuments rise from the still water that produces lush vegetation. There are generally water turtles and frogs in the area. However, the high water layer prevents excavations. It is possible to easily combine a day trip to the beach and the ruins there with the trip to be made between Kalkan- Kaş or Fethiye- Letoon.
Rock Village
Kaya Village, known as Levissi by the ancient Greek inhabitants, was a city of approximately 25,000 people in the early part of the 20th century. After an agreement between Turkey and Greece in 1923, it was completely abandoned by the Greek inhabitants during the population exchange. After the earthquake in 1957, the village became a ghost town. The village, which is a must for local and foreign visitors, was used by Louis de Bernieres as an inspiration in his novel Birds Without Wings.
Katrancı Cove
Katrancı Bay, which is approximately 15 km away from Göcek, is on the Göcek-Fethiye highway. The bay, which is surrounded by dense pine trees extending to the sea, is one of the wonderful places that shows that blue and green are in a much better harmony. There is a resting area in the forest in the bay and areas such as shower, WC, cabin, drinking water, kiosk, arbor and parking lot are located. It is also an ideal tented camping and recreation area.
Sarigerme Beach
Sarigerme beach, which is 30 km away from Göcek, has extremely fine sand. This beach, run by the municipality, is also shared with three hotels. It is much more enjoyable to walk this long, clean and calm beach. Usually the sea becomes choppy after noon.
Pumpkin Cove
If the highway is chosen to go to Kabak Bay, which is 60 km away from Göcek, it takes 1 and a half hours. Sheep roads are much more curved. Since it is one of the most well-known bays of Fethiye, it sees a lot of demand and is crowded. In addition to these, tents can be set up in the bay where there is a camping area, or there are rental tents or bungalow rental opportunities.
Butterfly Valley
Butterfly Valley, which is approximately 15 km away from Ölüdeniz, is 10 km away from Fethiye. The valley is a destination with extraordinary natural beauties. It has a much more natural environment away from modern developments. The beach is a popular place for backpackers to stay at the campground. In this way, it is possible to see a large number of people who set up tents very often and enjoy their vacation along the coast.
It is not possible to go to the Butterfly Valley by road, but by boat or after a much more dangerous walk through Faralya, a Turkish village located on the top of the mountain that provides shade to the valley.
Hidden City
The canyon, which is 18 km long, is 300 m deep, steep and narrow in Saklıkent National Park. Saklıkent Canyon is considered to be the third longest canyon in Europe. Also known as the Hidden Valley or the Lost City, the valley is renewed by a stream flowing from icy waters. The water stream is very cold and it may take much longer to reach the water. Steep slopes of sharp rocks and roaring rivers in the depths are truly astonishing. There are a total of 16 caves in the rocks.
Oludeniz
Located approximately 15 km south of Fethiye district, Ölüdeniz is a well-preserved and wonderful excursion spot right next to a wide sandy beach where Baba Mountain's shadow falls into the sea and a lush national park. Tourists from all over the world admire its natural beauties. Ölüdeniz is one of the best places in the world for tandem paragliding. It descends from the hills through the pines and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean stretch out. It has visitors from everywhere to jump from 2000 meters and see the view.
